Questions about carbon cleaning?
These are the questions we get all the time. If yours is vehicle-specific, WhatsApp us the make, model and what it’s doing.
FAQ
Carbon cleaning
What does a carbon clean do?
We feed hydrogen through the air intake while the engine runs. It works through the combustion path, helping loosen carbon so it can move out through the exhaust.
Do you strip the engine?
No. The engine stays assembled. We connect through the intake and run the process with the engine running.
Do you add chemicals or additives to the fuel?
No. The hydrogen carbon clean does not use a fuel additive.
Is carbon cleaning a repair?
No. It is maintenance, not a repair. If a sensor, turbo, injector, EGR, DPF or another part is faulty, that fault still needs fixing.
Can newer vehicles also be carbon cleaned?
Yes. Newer cars still do short trips, traffic and idling, so carbon build-up is not only an old-car problem.
Do you work on petrol and diesel vehicles?
Yes. Carbon cleaning is available for petrol and diesel applications, including many turbocharged vehicles.
FAQ
Fuel, smoke & drivability
Can carbon cleaning improve fuel consumption?
It can help if carbon is part of the reason for heavy fuel use, but there is no honest fixed percentage to promise. Traffic, driving style, tyres, load and mechanical faults all matter too.
What do customers normally notice after a carbon clean?
If carbon was holding the engine back, the car can feel smoother and less lazy. Some vehicles also show less smoke or soot.
Will a carbon clean stop smoke?
Only if carbon is part of the cause. Smoke can also be oil, injectors, turbo trouble, sensors, fueling or another mechanical fault.
Is the result the same on every vehicle?
No. Results depend on the vehicle, mileage, maintenance history, amount of build-up and whether any mechanical faults are present.
FAQ
DPF, EGR & diagnostics
Can carbon cleaning help with DPF problems?
Cleaner combustion can reduce the soot load, but a blocked or faulty DPF can still need a forced regen, proper DPF clean or repair.
Can carbon cleaning clean an EGR?
It can help with carbon through the running and exhaust path, but a stuck, badly blocked or faulty EGR still needs mechanical attention.
Does carbon cleaning replace diagnostics?
No. Diagnostics tells us what is wrong. Carbon cleaning deals with build-up. Sometimes you need one, sometimes both.
Is diagnostics included?
The 45-minute option does not include diagnostics. The 60-minute option includes basic diagnostics where applicable, and the 90-minute option includes full pre- and post-diagnostics with live readings.
Does a carbon clean replace injector testing or cleaning?
No. A hydrogen carbon clean is not a substitute for injector testing, injector servicing or mechanical fuel-system repairs.
FAQ
Sessions, maintenance & timing
How long does a carbon clean take?
The sessions are 45, 60 and 90 minutes. The right one depends on the engine, mileage and whether you want diagnostics included.
How often should I carbon clean my vehicle?
A good maintenance guide is roughly once a year or every 10,000 to 15,000 km. How you drive the vehicle can change that.
Should I service the car before or after a carbon clean?
A normal service and a carbon clean do different jobs. Carbon cleaning does not replace oil, filter or scheduled servicing. If the vehicle is due for service, both can form part of the maintenance plan.
What if the vehicle needs repairs?
Fix known mechanical faults first if they affect how the engine runs. Once the car is mechanically right, carbon cleaning can go back to being maintenance.
Should I carbon clean before performance tuning?
The vehicle should be mechanically healthy before tuning. Carbon cleaning and diagnostics can help establish a cleaner maintenance baseline before performance software is considered.
FAQ
Pricing, booking & payments
How much does carbon cleaning cost?
Engine size and session length change the price. Use the quote page and you’ll see the amount before you book.
Do you offer mobile carbon cleaning?
Yes, mobile call-out service is available in supported areas. Any applicable call-out charge is shown as part of the quote or booking process.
Can I book after hours?
After-hours appointments can be arranged where available. An after-hours surcharge of R450 per hour may apply.
Do I have to pay when I request a booking?
No. You can send a booking request without paying online, or use the payment option shown if you want to secure the slot that way.
How do I know my booking is confirmed?
We’ll send a confirmation once the appointment is actually confirmed. Sending a request on its own does not mean the slot is confirmed yet.
Can I reschedule or cancel my booking?
Yes. Use the Manage/Reschedule Booking link supplied with your booking. You can choose another available appointment or cancel if your plans change.
